Emily has worked professionally and volunteered both locally and abroad in; India, South America, and Africa by using art and movement as therapeutic modalities. Art and movement have the powerful nonverbal ability to create and forge deep growth for all involved, and Emily has had the joy in facilitating and bearing witness to this growth.  While working as an Art therapist Emily has had the opportunity to support a wide range of populations. She has worked with adults living with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities at an adult day habilitation center; at schools with children living with autism spectrum disorder, in hospital and nursing rehab centers. She has created and led art therapy and yoga groups for students in a specialized school for children with visual and auditory impairments. As a yoga teacher and Yoga Therapist Emily has taught individual and group sessions focusing mainly on Restorative and Therapeutic yoga. Prior and during her work as an Art Therapist Emily has worked for many years as a Teaching Artist for the elderly in New York and the surrounding boroughs. She has worked with the elderly their support systems (care givers and families), as well as with the elderly LGBTQ community, Memory Care centers, rehabilitation/nursing homes, and community centers. Emily has also taken part in leading intergenerational community based events, programs, and workshops.

From an early age Emily knew the importance of listening, supporting, and learning from others. She was raised with a beautiful mixture of Eastern and Western beliefs embodied in both her mother a teacher/abstract painter, and her father a Medical physician/ Acupuncturist.

These different but balanced beliefs support her as she grows and learns new ways to enrich the world around her.

As a lover of movement, animals, and the natural world Emily continues to explore: running, hiking, climbing, dancing, and swimming. Her artwork is in photography, ceramics, and poetry.
